About Me

Howdy, I'm Marianne: native of Houston, eater of pupusas, and lover of soccer.  Currently, I'm a doctoral student at the University of Georgia studying Latin@ children's literature, representations of Latin@s in nonfiction children's texts, and library services for Spanish-speaking children and families.  I also help out at an after-school community center and children's library programs here in Athens.

Before beginning at UGA in fall 2013, I taught Pre-K and Kindergarten in Texas and North Carolina and got my master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at Texas A&M University.  In my spare time, I enjoy obnoxiously pining for Texas, visiting family in western North Carolina (where they fled from Texas), exploring Athens, and re-learning Spanish.

  1. The tips that you give are all good. It can help a certain student to improve their writing skills in English. Also, in that way, it may lead them in to a good writer who can write well in English language.
